INTERNATIONAL GREEN GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2023

THE PRESTIGIOUS INTERNATIONAL GREEN GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2023 WENT TO MASSIMO IOSA GHINI FOR THE BRASILIA RADIATOR PRODUCED BY CALEIDO

Brasilia, the radiator by Caleido designed by Massimo Iosa Ghini, is among the 'green projects' awarded the renowned GREEN GOOD DESIGN® Award 2023. Brasilia is included in the GREEN PRODUCT category thanks to its sustainability features, in a varied context of international excellence.

GOOD DESIGN® is among the oldest awards for innovative and visionary new product design. Founded in Chicago by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, the idea for the Good Design Awards originated back in 1950. It was the first time that an art museum and a wholesale merchandising centre joined forces to present "the best new examples of modern design in home furnishings".

Organised by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, this special GREEN edition of GOOD DESIGN presents the most important international innovations in products, buildings, and construction and planning projects that are leading the global trend towards fully sustainable design compatible with the highest standards of good environment.

"This year's award-winning buildings and products," says Christian Narkiewicz-Laine, Architectural Critic and President/CEO of the museum, The Chicago Athenaeum, "seek to reduce the negative impacts on the environment, health and comfort of building occupants and product users, thereby improving building performance and adding a sustainable alternative to everyday objects. The fundamental goals of sustainability are to reduce consumption of non-renewable resources, minimise waste and create healthy and productive environments. present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs'.

In this context, the new Brasilia radiator by Caleido, a company that has been an ambassador of Made in Italy throughout the world since 1993 and specialises in radiators and towel warmers capable of combining aesthetics and technology in perfect balance, thanks also to prestigious collaborations such as the one with Massimo Iosa Ghini that gave life to Brasilia, a radiator made almost entirely of aluminium, recyclable at the end of its life.

Brasilia relates to living space with an aesthetically appealing form, to be displayed, not hidden. Even its name is a tribute to a master of modern architecture: Oscar Niemeyer whose buildings reflect the use of dynamic forms and sculptural curves.

"It is not just a product, but a piece of architecture, fully representing my mantra 'sustainable but beautiful' a sculpture for its continuous dialogue with light that describes its alternating extruded aluminium profiles in a play of light and shadow," explains Iosa Ghini.

'The news of this award makes us particularly proud because we have always worked to create radiators that give added value in terms of style and beauty to the environments we inhabit and that, at the same time, guarantee the best possible optimisation of energy resources.' Commented Danilo Rossetti, CEO and co-founder of Caleido 'This year Caleido turns 30 and this recognition confirms the road travelled so far and the direction already taken for the future, which aims at energy autonomy and continuous technological improvement'.
