Casa Corato

Have you ever wondered if it is possible to adapt an old house to a modern family’s lifestyle? Well, Casa Corato is the perfect example of this solution!

Italian Interior Designer Marianna Lotito was commissioned to redesign and redecorate a small building located in Corato’s historical city centre. Having in mind that not every time new is better than old, her first concern was to collect and restore all the coverings and materials that could be reused: wooden floor boards, marble thresholds, ceramic tiles and, last but not least, the impressive existing doors entirely constructed in hardwood.

The fact that it was essential to readjust the internal layout of the house led to the need to create new openings beside the existing ones. Facing this delicate situation, the designer decided to give the old door panels all the attention they deserve and make the new interventions as discreet as possible. To do so, she relied on Ermetika’s frameless doors because of their ability to adjust to any type of context.

The Absolute Evo and Absolute Swing frameless doors by Ermetika played a fundamental role in this project, because in addition to their functionality, they blended in effectively into the partitions and allowing the other components of the house to stand out, creating the perfect balance between the original and the new elements.
