Inaugurated after almost 6 years of work, British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer is the memorial which, 77 years after the tragic D-Day of 6 June 1944, celebrates landing day, which paved the way for Europe liberation and for the end of Second World War. A monumental work of architecture and landscape created in the aim of remembering, right in that place, the 22,442 victims including soldiers, women, civilians and volunteers, from over 20 countries, who lost their lives during what is universally known as "The Normandy Landing".
A project where exclusive materials, professionalism and experience are essential elements.
Our company was involved, right from the preliminary design, by the architect Liam O'Connor: together, we defined laying patterns and products to be used, then opting for a regular grid, where our Delgorsa® tiles were combined with the exclusive D'Avis® Red Gold Porphyry cubes, creating a sublime and wise match.
The supply and subsequent installation, carried out by our master
installers, made it possible to create, turnkey, a work that will over time be
testimony to the dreadful deeds of war but, at the same time, the celebratory
monument of an architecture of exemplary beauty, which ennobles our stone and
makes us proud to have contributed with our work, to this special and prominent
result.
